Mahmut Dipşar’s seven-volume series, Melamet is Awakening, is now available in a single volume, featuring previously unpublished conversation records! Recognized among the recent Melâmi Sufis and noted for his reverence toward the Ahl al-Bayt, Mahmut Dipşar followed in the footsteps of Üsküplü Süreyya Şar Efendi. Süreyya Şar Efendi, in turn, served Ahmed Amiş Efendi, the spiritual heir of Muhammad Nūr al-‘Arabī, one of the eminent Melâmi masters. Under the influence of these significant Sufi figures, Mahmut Dipşar’s conversations deepened into profound reflections, where he addressed many everyday questions with a thoughtful and courageous voice, expressed in his uniquely elegant style. In this precious work, the Melâmet path—a station in Sufism, as Muhyiddin Ibn ‘Arabi describes it—comes to the fore as the practice of self-discipline: seeing one’s own ego with humility, embracing blame without fear during the struggle with the self, and cultivating inner refinement. Prepared for publication by lawyer Mukadder Altaylı, these refined dialogues, spanning many years, convey the clarity of sincere speech. They offer a powerful awakening for those who seek to deepen their inner journey and confront the self while seeking answers to the questions that stir within them.
