The Concierge

The Concierge is a fascinating memoir of Adnan Öner’s remarkable 50-year career in hospitality, which began when he was just a middle school student working as a pageboy during the summer holidays at Istanbul Hilton, then the city’s first and only five-star hotel. In this book, readers witness the unforgettable experiences of a man who touched thousands of lives, found solutions to the needs of millions of guests, and navigated countless unusual requests with professionalism, and humanity. Through both bittersweet and inspiring stories, Adnan Öner opens a window onto the world of luxury hospitality and the people behind it. He also reflects on the importance of the concierge department in the industry, even at a time when interest in the profession has declined, and shares how Les Clefs d’Or, the prestigious international association that brings together hospitality professionals around the world, was established in Türkiye. From Hilton Istanbul to Etap Istanbul, and then through 35 years at Swissôtel The Bosphorus, Istanbul, this book is a warm, sincere, and deeply personal telling of an extraordinary professional journey one that never forgets to celebrate his enduring passion for Beşiktaş.
